Sharpening_optUntil February 25th, House of Knives is celebrating Sharpening Month! Not only do we have excellent sharpening, maintenance, and storage devices on sale during this time, but we’re also creating an opportunity for you to sample our sharpening services for free.

That’s right. For free.

Our Free Sharpening Offer

This Saturday, February 13th between 12:00pm – 4:00pm, bring one dull kitchen knife* into any House of Knives store and leave with it sharpened free of charge. If that kitchen knife has seen better days and you’re not sure if it can be sharpened bring it anyway and one of our sharpening experts can give you a quote on what it’ll take to make it sharp as new.

While you’re in, consider bringing your other sharpening needs to us as well. We sharpen all sorts of things at a reasonable price.

Due to the popularity of such an offer customers will be assisted on a first come, first served basis.

Safety First

Please make sure that you bring your kitchen knife to us wrapped securely to ensure both your safety and the safety of our staff members. We suggest putting your kitchen knife in a sleeve made of cardboard, or in a Knife Saver or Magnetic Blade Guard.

If you don’t have these items, simply wrap a dish towel around your knife a few times so the edge is safely padded, and secure the towel to the knife with rubber bands. Putting it in a small cardboard box or a heavy shopping bag while moving it through a busy shopping center wouldn’t be a bad idea either.

We’re looking forward to seeing your kitchen knife. But before you wrap it up safely to bring it in, here are a couple limitations we have to make you aware of.

  • The Free Sharpening Offer only includes normal, plain-edged kitchen knives. This means we won’t be able to sharpen serrated knives, cleavers, sporting, pocket knives, or scissors during this event. However, we would be happy to provide you a quote for any of these items along with any repair costs over and above a normal sharpening.
  • While most of our locations can sharpen to 15° or 20° angles, our Lougheed Mall location is only able to sharpen knives to a 20° angle which is sufficient for many European or Western style knives. Feel free to contact us if you’re not certain.

Come in and See Us!

We are so excited to be hosting this event! So come on down to any of our stores this Saturday, February 13 from 12:00 – 4:00PM for more information proper knife sharpening and maintenance while having one of your kitchen knives sharpened on House of Knives. Take advantage of the great sale on all the things you need to maintain an edge as well.

*Free Sharpening Offer does not apply to serrated blades, sporting knives, cleavers, scissors, or any knife repairs.
